I understand what he means by wanting to not vote. What is the point when year in, year out it's the same thing? A new war, a new enemy, billions wasted in saving another country when they can't even save themselves. Only reason I think they should continue to vote is because hopefully with their input they can help to (hopefully) choose the lesser of two evils.
But thats not what he is saying, because everyone has the right to vote but everyone also has the right not to vote and he chooses not to vote because there is noone ever running for something that he believes will help the right causes
If someone that gets voted in and fails to solve anything, the population will typically vote in a member of the other party next time, and so on and so on. It's a vicious cycle brought on by both the politicians and the general public. Brand talks about a revolution, but society is so imbedded in the current system that, even though they can clearly see that it isn't working, they merely blame it on the one in charge, and say things like "We'll never make the mistake of voting HIM in again, this new guy will do better." Even if you approach someone with the most obvious answers to society's problems, they will be too scared of change to actually follow through with any form of large scale revolution.
ummm can you explaine the french revolution, industrial revolution joan of arc, American war of independence, the Cuban revolution,American civil rights movement ... its not that people are scared its just we need somone to get it started
When people are getting voted in an fail to do what they promised for society, then somethings is wrong. Brand is right, maybe a revolution will solve this problem, but regardless something has to be done, and someone has to take necessary actions to make sure something is done. Also I agree with him when he says he doesn't vote, if all he sees are idiots who will not benefit society, why vote at all?
I believe in everyting that Brand is saying and the reason that he doesnt vote is because there is never anyone running for the things that he wants in society, such as a revolution. He believes in change to make the world a better place not just to keep it running smoothly so he doesnt vote on his own decision that nobody is stepping up to make change. As a comedian he is very well spoken and has a lot of well thought out points.
to be honest I think he's on the right track the government isn't working so why not revolutionize
ReplyDeletethis is true revolution might be the only way
DeleteRevolution or not something has to change
DeleteMaybe a revolution might be the only way, but if it happen to a revolution what will it turn out to be. Will it be bad or good
Deletehe makes some good points people should take this into consideration
